Newtons laws of Motion
I think that Newtons Third Law of Motion has the most impact and makes the balloon move the way it does. The third law of motion "For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction." the balloon moved the way it did because of the air that was propelling the balloon. The balloon wanted to go back to its original size so it was pushing the air out then the air was pushing the balloon forward which was causing the balloon to move around the room. It wasn't just going straight because it was hitting more air particles around it. "the reaction is the movement of the rocket in the opposite direction." the air in the balloon was pushing out in an opposite direction which was making the balloon float around the room.

Shut Down Your Screen Week By: Monica Costner Do you think it would be a good idea to participate in Shut Down Your Screen Week? I think that Parker School should participate in Shut Down Your Screen Week. The Internet is making families bonds fall apart. Kids as well as adults spend too much time on the Internet. I think that Parker School should participate in Shut down your screen week because the internet is making us distracted. “If we are distracted, we understand less, remember less, and learn less. At school most kids are probably not paying attention to what you are teaching them mostly because of all the technology around them. They are probably thinking about going home to sit and play a new video game or watch a new T.V show. They probably aren’t going to remember most of the things you taught them when they come back to school the next day. Here is another reason why Parker School should participate in Shut down your screen week is “Scientist say juggling e-mail, phone calls, and other incoming information can change how people think and behave”. Kids as well as adults spend way too much time on the internet or in front of their T.V screens. It’s changing how families act towards each other. It’s ripping family bonds apart. Kids are always on their electronics and probably never spending time with their families. Adults have this problem too they can’t tell their own children to get off the electronics when the adults have an Internet addiction as well. The last reason why I think Parker School should participate in Shut down your screen week is, “The resulting distractions can have deadly consequences, as when cellphone-wielding drivers and train engineers cause wrecks” Texting or having phone calls while driving is a very bad choice but most people do it anyways its becoming a problem. Peter Norvig wrote part of an article named “Is Google making us stupid?” He said no google wasn’t making us stupid he stated that “… Access to the Internet’s information helps lets us think better and faster” But he is wrong. Google and the other resources on the internet are making us learn way less. We are always distracted by what is on the internet, we never have a chance to go outside and enjoy nature. We don’t always have to be on the internet. Even if the library has “no books on that specific subject” go to a different library I’m sure they might have a book on what you’re trying to find. Reading is a whole lot better than “turning to Google” google may have what u need but it would take a whole lot of time trying to surf through websites. In conclusion, I think Parker School should participate in Shut down your screen week. The internet is making family bonds fall apart. Kids don’t pay that much attention in school because of all the technology around us. The internet is making us learn less. Next time you think about getting on your electronics try to remember everyone and everything around you would you rather hangout with friends and family or stay away from everyone and stay on your electronics? The Great Depression By: Monica Have you ever heard of the Great Depression? Has your parent ever lost a job? Most people in the Great Depression were effected in a lot of ways. Some of them lost their jobs, others didn’t have food, and others couldn’t use their lights all the time. Most people in the Great Depression were effected in many different ways, one of the ways they were effected was. “I can turn the fields over, start again. It’s sure to rain soon. Wheat’s are sure to grow.” In the poem Debt by Karen Hesse, she writes about a father who is getting his hopes up. He is sure it will rain soon even though it hasn’t rained in three years. The father was effected because if the garden didn’t grow they wouldn’t have food to eat. Another way most people in the Great Depression were effected in a lot of ways is. “Dads willingness to take any job.” In the story Digging In by Robert J. Hastings, he writes about a family that has been through some hard times. The dad lost his job and they were short on money. They were effected by Great Depression because they didn’t have a lot of money. The last way that many people were effected by the Great Depression is. “If we wanted to read on winter afternoons we sat as close to the window as possible…” In the story, Digging In by Robert J. Hastings, it talks about how a family can’t use their lights. If they wanted to read had to sit near a window. The family was effected because they couldn’t use their lights all of the time. In conclusion, most people in The Great Depression were effected in a lot of ways, they lost their jobs, didn’t have food, and others couldn’t use their lights all the time. If you lived through the great depression how would you feel?
We are thinking about inter connectivity of the sea.
Inter connectivity is when an animal gives energy to another animal like krill gives energy to a whale. So if the fish were gone it would mess up the inter connectivity of the sea. The animals that depend on fish would soon die off, or feed off of each other.
The Manorial System
The Castle The Castle was built by a king or a lord to protect its kingdom, and also to make a safe home for his family. It also made a place for the serfs to hide under an attack. There was a dungeon for criminals to be kept and punished. The treasure room was where coins, weapons ans precious things were kept, the entrance was usually a trap door in the solar. The solar was a private sitting room the king and the queen both had solar's, the plans on war and estate were decided in the solar.
The Church Every Manor had a church there were no chairs or pews so the worshipers would stand when the priest was preforming ceremonies. The men at the church were a very important part of the Manor. The books that were in the church had to be written by hand. the men that worked at the church had to record everything that happened at the manor. They took care of the injured, sick, and people with horrible diseases. They were usually the only people that could read or write. We know a lot about the medieval times because of all of their hard work.
The Manor House The lords vassal and and maybe a relative lived in the manor house. The vassal made sure everyone was doing their jobs and were protected by intruders. The vassal got a contract called a fief in order to get a fief the nobleman would have to pledge himself to a king or lord and agree to be vassal for life. The lord would protect the vassal from his enemies.
Monica - I like your WIKI. This morning try to finish answering questions on Feudalism (3-5 sentences for each question) as well as working on the new task about life in the manor. Mr. W
The Feudal System
1. Is feudalism a fair system? Why or why not?I don't think that the system is fair because the serfs had to give their money to the people that already had a lot of money. The serfs should be able to keep most of their money instead of giving most of it to the people that had more power than they did. The knights, kings, and nobles already have a lot of money they should let the serfs keep more of their money. 2. What was your role in our activity? How did you feel in your role?I was a serf/peasant. It wasn't fair the serfs had to give almost all of their M&M's away to the knights. The knights already have a lot of money and we had to give them more money. There is no point in giving the us money if they were just going to take most of it back in the end. 3. Do you think serfs ever tried to revolt? Why or why not?I think the serfs did try to revolt because they had to give most of their money away every time that they got money. They might have thought it wasn't fair .

Malala the Powerful
By: Monica Have you ever had to fight for your rights? Would you do it even if you could get tortured of killed after? In the poem, In Darkest Hours, it describes a courageous person, Malala Yousafzai is like the courageous person in the poem. She is a really courageous person. Malala continued to go to school even though the Taliban told her and other girls not to. She blogged about her life under the Taliban’s control, and “…her fierce determination to get an education” to help improve life for girls around the world. In the poem In Darkest Hours, it describes a courageous person. Malala is like the courageous person in the poem. “Malala went to school even though she was told not to “…she hid her books under her clothing”. This shows that she was like the person in the poem. Malala went to school despite the threat of the Taliban who could beat or even kill her. Another reason why Malala is like the courageous person in the poem is, “In 2009 , she began blogging for the British Broadcasting Corporation about what her life was like under the Taliban … she wrote about her dream of becoming a doctor and her fierce determination to get an education”. Malala was so brave that she risked her life spreading the word about her life. She did this to improve life for women everywhere. She showed courage like those, “… who carry mountains on their backs”. The third way that Malala is like the courageous person in the poem is, “Malala wasn’t just a school girl she was also a courageous fighter in the struggle to help girls in Pakistan go to school”. She is like the courageous person in the poem because she fought for the rights of girls in Pakistan to go to school, no matter what the Taliban did to her. In conclusion, Malala Yousafzai is a very courageous person like the poem describes. She fought against the Taliban for her rights to get an education by going to school even when she was told not to, and she blogged about her life under the Taliban’s control. The next time you don’t want to go to school think about how long Malala had to fight for her rights to be able to go to school like most people get to do around the world. Malala Yousafzai
