A theme in literature usually applies to more than just the characters in the story (They are universal)
For example: In The Lion King – Simba is told ‘take responsibility’ by assuming the throne and by looking after the other animals in the kingdom. In this case the theme is a lesson that can be applied to us all … Take responsibility, think of others and of the greater good!
